personal updates

overview

i'm currently savoring a rare still moment.

the past few months felt very high intensity, and this is the first time since maybe august that i've felt able to catch my breath... you might be able to tell since my last now page update was in july. honestly, this is the first time in a LONG time (maybe even since pre-pandemic?!) that i've felt this calm. i'm able to stop and take stock of what's happened + what's going to happen and not feeling frazzled about any of it (much). it might be because of my new medication? whatever! i'm not gonna knock a good thing.

what am i doing?

art
  • finishing up some commissions!
  • working on some duck merch (i keep starting wips and not finishing them!)
  • putting together a silly little zine about my love, hubert duck
  • thinking about more silly zines i'd like to make in the coming year :)
site
  • brainstorming a revamp for my header design for early 2025!
  • consolidating all my media logs into one page... they've up to this point been on their individual category pages (books, music, tv/film, etc) and it's tedious to try and check LOL.
  • working on a little page for my favorite internet freaks <3
  • trying to conceptualize my ideal workflow for a regularly-updating sketchbook page (using global data and templates)...
personal
  • continuing to lift weights and am surprised at how much i've consistently enjoyed it. i'm thinking of trying for a competition next year!
  • done with the most stressful part of my program, and have only a couple more months before i complete my studies. wish me luck (grits teeth)
  • excited to welcome a new member of my family soon! i'll have to pick a new pokemon for her...

in the future

i'd like to develop maintenance habits.

i got a bunch of big stuff done this year and am entering a slightly less hectic period. i think it's a good time to try and get into a good routine while i don't have a ton going on. i've historically been bad at doing stuff consistently, but i'd at least like to make the attempt to be better at sleeping early/eating better/moving more and not be so worried that it's using up my resources for drawing or coding or being insane.

(i'm choosing to think of it as a long term investment... spending the time now to create better health habits might give me MORE time/energy to draw/code/be insane!)

it'll still be hard, but i'm going to try. wish me luck!

want to read: the picture of dorian gray (it's been on my list for a while, but a conversation with natalie has motivated me to pick it up sooner)
