Stupid Cupid!

Having love trouble? Well, CUPID's probably to blame for that! This little godling's only interest is entertaining himself with the love lives of the people of this universe. Such is the behavior of a boy who's never known what it is to be in love.

But what happens when he gets a taste of the torture he so recklessly doles out?

  • Cupid's design and personality were inspired by Peter Pan, Hypnos (Hades), and Venti (Genshin Impact).
  • Cupid is not a singular god in this universe. The Cupid that you see here is simply one of many in Venus' retinue!
    • They don't usually show themselves to people (though it's not necessarily disallowed), so this is not really common knowledge.
    • Some of the Cupids have names, but most of them go by their numbers. This Cupid is #17 (or "Q").
      • (I, the creator, call him The Cupit when I refer to him sometimes.)
  • People in this universe offer gifts to Cupid's altar to try and turn their luck in love around.
    • Success rates vary depending on which Cupid answers your call. This one in particular is UNRELIABLE and A MENACE!

Story

Cupid and his love interest, Miss Kiera, are inspired by the song Cupid by FIFTY FIFTY. I liked the interpretation that Cupid was intentionally sabotaging the love life of the song's speaker, and thought it would be cute if it was because he himself liked her and didn't want to see her with anyone else.

I thought it would be even cuter (and interesting) if said love interest was the last person anyone expects a Cupid to be so smitten with – someone ordinary, jaded, old enough to have outgrown her hopeless romantic phase, and totally baffled by Cupid's attention. Enter Miss Kiera!

Their story is a very unserious one that I imagine involves lots of shenanigans – both before Cupid reveals himself to her and after, when he's trying to win her love. (An annoying little godling is not Miss Kiera's idea of a life partner, after all!) But for all the silliness of Cupid and Kiera's unconventional relationship, it is also full of love <3

Miss Kiera

Miss Kiera is Cupid's first love. Cupid adores Miss Kiera, even if she seems indifferent to his advances. He's a good sport about her lack of reciprocation, but believes he'll win her heart yet!

Miss Kiera is not overjoyed that her most dedicated prospect at her big age is a little brat, immortal and powerful though he may be. Still, he can be quite sweet...
Psyche Our boy #17 is not the Cupid from most myths, so he isn't the one who married Psyche. They are in-laws :)
Oh-One (01)

01 is 17's eldest brother, and the "Cupid" usually referred to in the myths (so he's the one with Psyche). He is responsible, upstanding, kind, and always wishes his younger brother tried a little harder.

Oh-Two (02)

02 is 01's more serious, no-nonsense twin brother, and far less patient with 17's antics than his twin. But 17 remembers 02 as being more caring and indulgent when he was younger, so he isn't scared of 02 lol.

Venus

Our boy the Cupit loves his mom soooo much. She loves him too. She scolds him sometimes for being careless with human love lives, but she can't stay mad at that face!
Oh-Eight (08)

08 and our main boy here are similar in rank, although 08 is far more diligent... he's just unlucky. Still, he and 17 are on good terms and often help each other out in a pinch.
